Hyundai Ioniq 5 N Starts From $80k in Canada

Big tires, big fenders, big power, and big price

  • 641 hp Hyundai EV is a pricey one

  • N treatment extends to entire vehicle

If you want the quickest Hyundai ever made, you’d best bring your chequebook. The 641 horsepower 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N will start from $78,199 plus freight when it arrives at dealers in Canada in the next few weeks.

The Ioniq 5 N is a Hyundai like almost nothing else. It takes the Ioniq 5 EV and then gives it the brand’s high-performance N treatment. Like on the gas N models, including the Kona and Elantra, it means more power, more grip, and a more enthusiast-focused interior.

A new two-stage inverter with increased efficiency and higher output helps spin the 5 N’s motors to 21,000 rpm. Through the car’s new 84 kWh battery, the result is 601 hp – 223 from the front motor and 378 from the rear – with up to 641 hp available for short periods when the N Grin Boost is engaged.

N Grin Boost lasts for 10 seconds and can be activated manually on the go or come on automatically with N Launch Control. Hyundai has also added new N sounds to help give the EV a more involving sound signature. It will even have a simulated gear shift feel.

A lower suspension and wider fenders help manage the high perforamnce tires. Inside, the car has a padded center console, heavily bolstered seats that sit lower than standard, and N-specific gague displays.

Hyundai Canada said that the 2025 Ioniq 5 N will be arriving at dealers in the next few weeks. The MSRP is $78,199, with destination and fees extra. The automaker hasn’t yet revealed a range estimate for the performance model.
