It’ll be AWD with 577 horsepower.
The spied 5 N has bigger brakes and a lowered ride height.
We currently have a new 2022 Ioniq 5 in our possession and we freely admit that it is mighty impressive. The tested version features Hyundai’s HTRAC AWD, aka dual-motor setup, for maximum power and traction. This version will serve as the basis for the upcoming Ioniq 5 N crossover.
Based on the spy shots, the Ioniq 5 N differs slightly by its lightweight multi-spoke wheels, considerably larger brakes, and lowered ride height. Beyond that, the camo’d vehicle shared on Carscoops reveals little more.
The Ioniq 5 N will surely be powered by the same powertrain and battery configuration as the upcoming Kia EV6 GT. Specifically, it’ll sport a 77.4 kWh battery pack which will feed the dual-motor AWD system. The GT’s output is rated at a substantial 577 horsepower and 546 lb.-ft. of torque.
Performance should match the likes of the Tesla Model Y Performance, Ford Mustang GT Performance Edition, and the aforementioned Kia EV6 GT’s 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) sprint time of less than 3.5 seconds.
If anything the “Never Just Drive” mottos plastered on the camo lead us to believe it will be a blast to drive.
