Styled like the 45 Concept, but for kids
Single-seater twin-motor speedster EV
Hyundai has just launched its smallest EV yet, the model is based on the 45 Concept first seen early last year, but this time it offers an open-top experience. The two-motor EV is a singles-seater and will be the most affordable Hyundai EV ever built. It has yet to get a name, but the kids will love it. And by that we mean actual kids, because this is a mini EV designed for little drivers. With a top speed of 7 km/h.
Ok, it’s not the blistering performance we’d expect from a two-motor EV, but just look at how cool this is. Using the styling of the 45 Concept as a starting point, but shrinking it down to a fraction the size of the original, then keeping the kinetic cube lamp design of the concept and even adding to the wheels, this is one of the coolest kid cars we’ve seen in a while.
With one centre-mounted seat, and Hyundai says that’s inspired by motorsports, claiming that “only the bravest souls will take the wheel of this speedster.” Of course, with a top speed of a fast walk, it’s not the speed that requires bravery, it’s the thought of an adult trying to climb back out of this car that takes guts.
Built from the ultimate renewable composite, wood, the new EV will offer “a unique mobility experience for young customers.” Hyundai says that there will be more to come on just how it will do that, and what the company’s plans are for the tiny EV that’s finished in Performance Blue with a wheel design that seems borrowed from a 1988 Cavalier Z24.
