It will be the second model as part of the Ioniq family of EVs.
The Ioniq 6 will roll on the brand’s Electric Global Modular Platform.
The Hyundai Motor Group is being true to its word: It is and will continue to launch numerous new EVs across its collections of brands. The next one will be the Ioniq 6 which is expected to break cover later this month.
The teaser images and video show a heavily silhouetted grand-coupé-like sedan that is certainly inspired by the Prophecy concept introduced way back in March of 2020. Some spy shots seen in the past suggest that the Ioniq 6 will be roughly Elantra-sized however that remains to be confirmed. If anything, it’s more likely that it will “replace” the midsize Sonata.
What we do know is that the new Ioniq 6 will be based on Hyundai Motor Group’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) shared with the impressive Ioniq 5. We can therefore assume that it will share the crossover-hatchback’s powertrain and battery configurations. There’s also plenty of reason to be hopeful for a future N iteration as well.
Hyundai warns that more pictures will be shared over the coming days and that the full reveal will take place later this month.
