Inspired by extreme terrains and off-road utility, the CRATER Concept was introduced as a visual expression of durability and capability, building on Hyundai’s existing XRT products.

The exterior adopts Hyundai’s ‘Art of Steel’ language, focusing on sculptural forms and structural precision. The body includes chiselled surfaces, skid plates, and sheer fenders. A wide skid plate spans the underbody, while hexagonal 18-inch wheels, paired with 33-inch off-road tires, reflect terrain-ready proportions.

Functional off-road equipment includes a roof platform for auxiliary lighting and gear, protective rocker panels, and limb risers. Additional elements include detachable mirror cameras that can serve as flashlights and a built-in recovery hook that doubles as a bottle opener.

The interior concept, titled “The Curve of Upholstery,” focuses on flexibility and durability. Designed for outdoor users, the cabin features soft-touch but rugged materials, a visible roll cage, ambient lighting, and integrated storage solutions such as a first aid kit and fire extinguisher. Wraparound seats incorporate cylindrical cushions and a four-point harness.

Digital components include a full-width head-up display, a steering wheel-mounted pixel interface, and a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) system for user-customized digital interaction. The off-road controller features tactile gear-type input, and preset terrain modes—Snow, Sand, Mud, Auto, and XRT.

The CRATER Concept is finished in Dune Gold Matte, a colour inspired by the California landscape. The Black Ember interior includes a combination of leather, Alcantara, and brushed metal accents. Orange highlights reference natural outdoor elements such as desert sunsets and campfires. Topographic patterns etched into interior surfaces reflect the theme of exploration.

Hyundai also incorporated a symbolic character, “CRATER MAN,” across the vehicle’s surfaces as a playful nod to off-road storytelling and discovery.
