The artist calls it Centurion.
It is based on an image of the Bugatti Divo.
Cadillac needs a supercar.
Most luxury brands have and sell an aspirational supercar. The exceptions are Infiniti, and we know where they’re going, and Cadillac. Heck, even Ford’s (not Lincoln, granted) has the Ford GT. And Chevrolet has the C8 Corvette which will shortly offer a supercar-killer version. If Cadillac ever needed inspiration for their supercar of the future, Instagram has delivered the Cadillac Centurion, based on a Bugatti Divo.
The rendering prepared by san_e_boy_art is extreme, and possibly a little too “out there” for a Cadillac however it certainly looks the supercar part. Caddy’s no stranger to considering a flagship or halo sports car for its brand. Back in 2002, they introduced the Cien Concept, a 750 horsepower mid-engine V12 for its 100th anniversary, hence the name. The closest car to come from the Cien was the Corvette-based XLR which was sold, barely, from 2004-2009. The XLR-V had potential thanks to its supercharged 443-horsepower 4.4-litre Northstar V8, but no one noticed.
Here’s a little trivia knowledge: Centurion, the name given to the rendering by the artist, was actually a Buick vehicle sold in the early 1970s. It’s not exactly a supercar…
While nothing’s been announced, GM’s new flexible EV platform could certainly underpin a massively powerful AWD coupe. The GMC Hummer’s 1,000 horsepower output could be a good place to start.
