Kia’s chief designer confirmed to a British magazine that the ‘Imagine by Kia’ Concept is heading for mass production soon.
At the last Geneva Motor Show in March, Kia showed its vision of a whole new kind of vehicle, a happy mix between an SUV and a five-door fastback coupe: the Imagine by Kia concept.
Entirely electric, this curious vehicle stood out not only for its unique design but also for its four-seat interior and its dashboard adorned with 21 high-resolution screens (!), A detail integrated into the prototype to amaze people, a comment that also applies to suicide doors in the second row of seats.
However, it seems that the concept ‘Imagine by Kia’ is heading straight for mass production, according to what was learned by the British magazine Auto Express in an interview with the chief designer of the brand, Luc Donkerwolke.
The latter confirmed to the publication that the vehicle was based on a new platform dedicated to electric vehicles, an architecture that will likely be reused under other future electric vehicles in the future.
The Korean manufacturer’s chief designer even confirmed that they were working on the model at the moment and that the final result would be shown soon. Donkerwolke even reiterated that there was little to change from a prototype to a production model. We will see at the time of the official presentation.
At the time of writing, it is too early to speculate on the capabilities of this future electric model or even its position in the market, but the mere fact that the chief designer confirms the development is already great news.
