The Grenadier Demonstrator is not only a technological marvel but also a trailblazer in terms of performance. Its electric drive units provide precise torque vectoring control to each rear wheel, ensuring outstanding control and manoeuvrability in all off-road conditions. This capability, paired with zero emissions, embodies INEOS’s commitment to net zero, as stated by Lynn Calder, CEO of INEOS Automotive.

Developed in partnership with Austrian engineering consultancy AVL, the Grenadier Demonstrator has proven its mettle, conquering the rugged trails of the Austrian mountains and various offroad challenges around Graz. This rigorous testing ensures that the vehicle’s on- and off-road capabilities and towing capacities remain uncompromised despite its shift to hydrogen fuel.

Aside from a hood power bulge to accommodate the fuel cell, the hydrogen Grenadier Demonstrator mirrors the production Grenadier. The vehicle’s platform flexibility enabled INEOS Automotive engineers to integrate the zero-emission powertrain by modifying the ladder frame and rear axle.

INEOS’s dedication to a zero-emissions future doesn’t end with this demonstrator. Alongside an all-electric model due in 2026, the company is committed to utilizing hydrogen, a key fuel of the future, of which INEOS produces 400,000 tonnes annually. However, CEO Lynn Calder emphasizes the need for policy maker support to help develop the infrastructure necessary for the growth of the hydrogen economy.
