Infiniti Shows The New QX55 Silhouette In Monterey

Another day at the Monterey Car Week, another announcement. This time, Infiniti showed a “brushstroke” of their new upcoming luxury sport utility coupe, the QX55.

Nissan’s luxury wing took advantage of its visit to Monterey, California, this week to show what to expect when it comes to the addition of a future SUV coupé, the first of the brand which also celebrates its 30 years of existence this year.

The sport utility vehicle in question will be called QX55 and is expected to enter the continent’s dealerships in the summer of 2020. In its press release, Infiniti compares this brush stroke (which illustrates the sharpened silhouette of this future SUV coupé) to the first-generation Infiniti FX, the sport utility vehicle that has made its mark especially for its sporty side, not really for its utilitarian aspect.

“The INFINITI QX55 is a stunning new SUV coupe in the heart of one of the industry’s fastest growing segments, globally,” said Mike Colleran INFINITI Motor Company Deputy Chairman. “Customers will appreciate the distinctive design of the QX55 which features a sporty coupe-like roofline. We know customers and retailers are eagerly looking forward to the QX55 which will be available next year.”

It is too early to know if this future model will be based on the current QX50 with its variable compression 4-cylinder turbo engine or if, on the contrary, this new QX55 will rather trust the biturbo V6 also available in the brand’s catalog. We will certainly know more in the coming months.
