Is There A Genesis G70 Coupe In Our Future?

The Genesis G70 family now has a shooting brake to go with the sedan. A coupe would be a fitting addition

  • The Genesis X concept was a coupe…

  • Recent Genesis Europe promotional video hints at a 2-door coupe.

The entire automotive industry has kept an eye on Hyundai’s Genesis brand for nearly six years. In this period, the recently-minted luxury brand has introduced and continues to launch, new models that are disrupting the status quo. The Genesis G70 was the first to seriously take on the German luxury brands and it might not be done quite yet.

Genesis Reveals Stunning G70 Shooting Brake

We’ve just reviewed the recently updated 2022 Genesis G70 and it lived up to our increasingly demanding expectations from the brand. Genesis stunned everyone when they revealed the equally stunning G70 Shooting Brake only a few weeks ago. Now, evidence might be pointing to the fact that a coupe may or might have been in the cards as well.

Following an online press conference earlier this month, Genesis accidentally (probably not) showed a rendering that looked suspiciously like a G70 Coupe. CarBuzz feels the same way and reminds us that Dr. Albert Biermann, the person in charge of R&D, has said to never discount the upstart.

A coupe version of the Genesis G70 would handily take on the Audi A5, BMW 4 Series, and Mercedes-Benz C-Class, both in their “regular” guises and high-performance iterations.
