Stingray R graphic, Corvette Racing logos on pace car
Tweeted by Corvette Racing at Road America for sports car race
We’re pretty sure that Chevrolet is showing us a new special edition of the C8 Corvette Stingray, taking at least some visual tweaks from the race car and bringing them to a roadgoing version.
The tweet comes from Corvette Racing, the official feed for the sports car racing team. At Road America over the weekend for an event, the team tweeted two race-ready C8R cars and one white C8 in the middle. It read that one Chevrolet Corvette would pace the field but that two would lead the championship. Then “notice a pattern?”
One #Corvette will lead the field at #RoadAmerica. The other two lead the #IMSA #GTLM Championship for @TeamChevy. Notice a pattern?#MidEngine #Stingray #C8R pic.twitter.com/GGXEgMOGNK

We think that means the pattern is that all three are somehow C8R cars, in one form or another. Look really closely at the top-down photo and the wide front lip of the pace car clearly reads Stingray R.
More than that, check out the version of the Corvette Racing Jake logo in the black and grey stripe on the hood with Corvette Racing text written below it and the ghost Bow-Tie logo on the roof of the car. There’s another Jake on the outside of the front splitter and a cool Corvette silhouette on the aero device on the side skirt.
Motor1 reports a previous leak that called the Stingray R a graphics pack with special wheel caps. This car, wearing that emblem on the hood, and extra lettering looks like it could be just that. Of course, with a name like Stingray R, we’d expect a bit more in the performance department, too.
