The first new Ford F1-50 Lightning was delivered yesterday in Michigan.
The Tesla Cybertruck was officially announced in November 2019.
This is an interesting story in the sense that the person who has taken delivery of the first production 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning was also on the waiting list for a Tesla Cybertruck. Although he first put a deposit on the Tesla, he’ll be driving a new Ford.
In fact, he currently owns a Tesla Model 3 as well as a “regular” Ford F-150. His intention was to own and drive a Cybertruck despite his wife hating the idea of the Cybertruck. As luck would have it, and likely in large part thanks to more than a century of experience, Ford got their Lightning on the road first.
Although the now Michigan-plated Ford F-150 Lightning is something of a precious commodity, the new owner won’t be nice to it. The happy new owners will use it as a truck.
“We live in the woods, and I’m looking at cornfield next to me here that was planted,” the owner said as reported by Bloomberg. “We’ll be chopping wood and hauling stuff back and forth, as well as towing a trailer.”
