Japanese Tuner Damd Recreates Retro Rally Icons

Retro coachbuilding rules

  • Suzuki Jimny becomes R5 and Delta Integrale

  • No power to match the looks

Japanese tuning firm and coachbuilder Damd turns cars into things they’re not. Like a Jimny into a Bronco or G-Wagen or an Infiniti G50 coupe into an Aston Martin. This time around, it’s some rally icon look-alikes, including the Lancia Delta Integrale and Renault 5 Turbo.

Damd does a new body kit for the Suzuki Jimny off-roader every year. This year, the theme is “European Masterpiece.”

The Little 5 gets a Renault look-alike nose including the front air dam. It also gets some seriously wide box fenders, especially at the back. The perfect touch, though, is the sticker on the door that says Non Turbo. The exact opposite of the original 5.

Damd calls the other one Little Delta. Once again, it’s a look-alike of the classic Lancia Delta Integrale, a rally icon. It has a similar grille, those quad headlights, plus a hilarious spoiler mounted to the roof.

The wheels are the most real part of the package. Damd collaborated with OZ Racing to make its classic wheels in a tiny size to fit the modern Jimny. You can get them in white or graphite.

Damd hasn’t changed the mechanical bits of the Jimny (actually the widebody Jimny Sierra). The 1.5L four and its 101 hp won’t exactly give you a taste of the rally cars you’re hoping to emulate.

The mini rally rockets will be revealed at the Tokyo Auto Salon, which runs in January.
