The package is priced at $4,700 US.
The original Jeep Grand Cherokee debuted in 1992.
More than 7 million units have been sold.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is celebrating its 30th anniversary in style with the introduction of a new special-edition model. The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe 30th Anniversary edition pairs the brand’s legendary 4×4 capabilities with cutting-edge electrification, resulting in an SUV that’s grand and ultra-efficient.
The Grand Cherokee 4xe 30th Anniversary Edition package is priced from $4,700 (Canadian pricing to be announced at a later date) and includes a number of unique touches. The vehicle starts out as Grand Cherokee 4xe which, as we know, means it is powered by a plug-in hybrid powertrain that combines an efficient turbocharged 2.0-litre 4-cylinder gasoline engine with two electric motors for a total of 375 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque. This setup gives the Grand Cherokee 4xe an EPA-estimated range of 25 miles (42 km) on electric power alone, making it perfect for short commutes or errand-running around town. When you need more range, the gasoline engine kicks in to keep you going.
And thanks to its standard 4×4 Selec-Terrain traction management system, which offers five available terrain modes (Auto, Sport, Rock, Snow, Mud/Sand), the Grand Cherokee 4xe can handle any terrain or weather condition Mother Nature throws your way.
“When the original Jeep Grand Cherokee debuted in 1992 by famously crashing through the glass at Cobo Hall, it literally shattered expectations and redefined what a premium SUV could be,” said Jim Morrison, senior vice president and head of Jeep brand North America. “Three decades later and more than 7 million Grand Cherokees sold, the most awarded SUV ever is still forging new ground with the electrified plug-in-hybrid 4xe model. The Grand Cherokee 4xe 30th Anniversary edition underscores how far the Grand Cherokee has come and is yet another example of the Jeep brand’s goal to be the electrification leader in SUVs.”
The Grand Cherokee 4xe 30th Anniversary Edition package will differ visually with an aggressive blacked-out front fascia, black 20-inch wheels, the signature blue tow hooks, special-edition badging and body-color rear fascia, lower moldings, sill claddings and wheel flares.
The package will upgrade the Grand Cherokee’s interior black Capri leather seats, ventilated front seats, wireless charging pad, 9-speaker Alpine audio system, and Uconnect 5 with a 10.1-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus navigation with 3D graphics.
Interested Jeep Grand Cherokee fans will be able to order the $4,700 package later this year with deliveries expected to take place in early 2023. Canadian pricing and availability to be announced later.
