The Wrangler 4xe is the first electrified Jeep in North America, but won’t be the last.
Jeep has said that it will electrify the Gladiator, and this might be proof of a 4xe version.
We recently reviewed the 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe and although we generally feel the PHEV technology is a misguided bridge to EVs and typically not deserving of incentives, we thought the 4xe to be brilliant. Given that the Wrangler and Gladiator share almost everything, it only makes sense that a 4xe version of the latter is offered.
Although Jeep’s has said that it will electrify the Gladiator, we’d not seen any indications as to a timeline. At least, that was until now. As reported by autoblog, an image that surfaced on the brand’s Facebook page seems to show exactly this vehicle.
The giveaways aren’t numerous but to a trained eye, they can be. The picture is that of a 4xe’s interior if because of the presence of blue stitching (signature 4xe touch). The details that join 4xe with the Gladiator involve the presence of the four power window switches along with the rear roll bar as seen in the driver’s side side-view mirror.
This same roll bar is offered in the 2-door and 4-door Wrangler, as well as the Gladiator. Since the Wrangler 4xe’s already out, this inevitably points to this being an interior photo of the new Gladiator 4xe.
All guesses lead to the coming of the Gladiator 4xe later this year or early next.
