Jeep Teases a New Grand Cherokee Trailhawk to Come Later This Year

• The 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee will receive an off-road focussed Trailhawk trim level later this year.

• This model will be the first non-hybrid Trailhawk since 2022.

• We already know what to expect in terms of design, thanks to the now-cancelled Trailhawk 4xe, which was revealed last year.

Jeep released a teaser image earlier today showing the upcoming Grand Cherokee Trailhawk, an off-road focussed version of its mid-size five-passenger SUV which will join the lineup later this year.

This trim level had previously only been available on the 4xe plug-in hybrid Grand Cherokee since 2023, but it will now be paired with a standard internal combustion powertrain once again now that the 4xe system has been discontinued for the 2026 model year.

While no technical details have been announced, the 2026 Trailhawk is likely to make use of the brand-new Hurricane 4 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers 324 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque.

Back in 2022, the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk was powered by the 3.6L Pentastar V6, which is still available in the base model 2026 Grand Cherokee, where it develops 293 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque.

In terms of design, the 2026 Trailhawk is expected to look very much like the 2022 version, since the mid-cycle refresh operated a few months ago was quite light.

In fact, we already know pretty much exactly what the 2026 model will look like even if Jeep only released a teaser image.

Indeed, a few weeks before cancelling its powertrain, the automaker had released pictures of the 2026 Grand Cherokee 4xe Trailhawk.

In them, we can see the same hood graphics that were used on the Trailhawk previously, along with updated dark grey alloy wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires, a black front grille, and red tow hooks in the front and rear bumpers.

There is a Trailhawk badge on the bottom right corner of the liftgate, and trail rated roundels are installed high on the front fenders.

Of course, the production version won’t feature the charging port that is displayed in the 4xe images, but that is the main difference we expect between the SUV that was shown in the earlier pictures and the one that will reach dealer lots later in the year.
