It will be based on a PSA platform thanks to the formation of Stellantis.
Both Alfa Romeo and Fiat will get their own version in 2023.
Stellantis is kicking it into high gear now that the merger’s been approved. Of the many goals set to be achieved thanks to the joining of both car companies, economies of scale are crucial. By pooling all technologies and resources, Stellantis is well-equipped to tackle any segment for any brand. It looks as though they will start with a small SUV for Jeep.
Small or subcompact SUVs are extremely popular the world over – this is not news. In fact, FCA had aggressive plans to infiltrate the segment with a slew of new mini-utes in the form of the Fiat 500x and Jeep Renegade. As the category is expected to continue to grow, Stellantis will take it on first by introducing a new small Jeep that will slot below that of the Renegade.
According to Automotive News Europe (subscription required), the new small Jeep will start production in July 2022 in Tychy, Poland. Following will be Alfa Romeo and Fiat versions expected to arrive in 2023.
