Jeep released an image of what is either a Jeep Wrangler or Gladiator with a 392 badge on the hood
The 392 badge usually announces the presence of a 6.4-litre Hemi V8
Could the Wrangler offer a version with a V8 and 485 horsepower?
The Jeep Wrangler may be getting a 392 version soon with a 6.4-litre V8 engine. Jeep teased the model on its Twitter page by posting an image of what is either a Wrangler or a Gladiator wearing a large hood scoop with the 392 badge on it.
Yes, our title assumed this is a Wrangler, but it could indeed be a Gladiator. We’re thinking that if Jeep does create a new 392 trim, it will offer it on both the Wrangler and the Gladiator. Both would then get a 6.4-litre V8 engine which in other 392 models in the Dodge lineup delivers 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque.

Jeep has recently expanded the Gladiator lineup with a new EcoDiesel engine, but a 392 model would certainly be by far the most powerful option in either the Jeep pickup or the Wrangler SUV. We’re also skeptical about how a Wrangler could handle that much power. There would need to be some significant structural, braking, and suspension improvements.
On the other hand, there would definitely be a market for a V8 Wrangler and a V8-powered Jeep Gladiator with be unique in its segment. Its rivals offer only four-cylinder and six-cylinder options.
If Jeep is planning a V8 for its 2021 Wrangler lineup, we should learn about it very soon.
