2025 Jeep Compass Overview

2025 Jeep Compass

The 2025 Jeep Compass is one of many contenders in the compact crossover segment, but it manages to set itself apart as being one of the most capable off the beaten path.

Introduced way back for the 2017 model year, the current second-generation Compass is no spring chicken. It has received several changes and updates over the years to help keep it competitive, and this year, it gets a base price drop to keep it in the same range as those of its rivals. Meanwhile, an all-new generation of the Compass is in the pipeline, built on the company’s STLA Medium platform, and should appear in North American for the 2026 or 2027 model year.

2025 Jeep Compass Changes and Updates

There are no changes to the lineup for the 2025 model year, aside from a limited-run paint color called Joose. However, in October 2024, the brand announced lower starting MSRPs on the more affordable trim levels. The base Compass Sport started at $32,700, or roughly $6,000 less than the 2024 model-year equivalent, while the North variant received a $1,920 price drop and the Altitude saw its price decrease by $420. In winter 2025, Jeep raised prices again, with the Compass Sport now starting at $33,700—up to $1,000—while all other trims received a $200 increase.

2025 Jeep Compass Trim Levels and Pricing

In Canada, the Compass is offered in Sport, North, Altitude, Trailhawk, Limited and Trailhawk Elite trim levels. They are all equipped with a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine that develops 200 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque, managed by an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The Jeep Active Drive all-wheel drivetrain is standard on all Compass variants except the Trailhawk and the Trailhawk Elite, which get the Jeep Active Drive Low system instead. The latter features a 20:1 crawl ratio for more serious, low-speed off-roading over treacherous terrain, along with a Rock drive mode in addition to the three other standard modes of the Selec-Terrain system—Auto, Snow and Sand/Mud. As before, the Trailhawk variants also benefit from a one-inch factory lift, skid plates, off-road tires, tow hooks and hill descent control.

2025 Jeep Compass Warranty Coverage

In Canada, the 2025 Jeep Compass is covered by a 3-year/60,000 km Basic Warranty (whichever comes first) and a 5-year/100,000 km Powertrain Warranty, along with a 5-year/160,000 km rust perforation warranty.

24-hour roadside assistance is offered on the Compass for 5 years or 100,000 km in Canada, whichever comes first.

What the 2025 Jeep Compass Does Well

  • Compact crossover shoppers who want or need a vehicle with good off-road capabilities can easily turn to the Compass, which is the Ford Bronco Sport’s most direct rival. Though Jeep Active Drive is a reactive system that disconnects the rear axle under normal driving conditions to save fuel, it’s a capable one. The Trailhawk and Trailhawk Elite take the off-road abilities up a notch with its crawl mode, allowing owners to slowly drive over rocky or uneven surfaces with confidence.
  • The turbo 2.0L engine introduced for the 2023 model year is quite satisfying, while its standard 200-horsepower output leads the compact crossover segment. Only a few adversaries offer more power, but with optional powertrains.
  • The Jeep Compass’ switchgear layout is hard to fault, with well-placed controls along with real buttons and rotary dials for the climate control system. The Uconnect 5 infotainment system with a standard 10.1-inch touchscreen is simple to use and it’s loaded with features, too.
  • There’s plenty of rear-seat legroom, which is good if our kids are starting to get big and tall. Even the middle seat isn’t cramped while its seat cushion isn’t overstuffed. We just wish the seatback angle could be adjusted.

What the 2025 Jeep Compass Doesn’t Do Well

  • As much as we like the new powertrain, the Compass is still stuck with a steering system that feels rubbery and lacks on-center precision. Driving other compact crossovers back-to-back with the Jeep, this characteristic immediately stands out.
  • While interior fit and finish is better than when the current-gen Compass launched for 2017, there’s still room for improvement. Some materials look low-rent, such as the shiny armrest padding which looks more like vinyl than leatherette.
  • The Compass’ seats are firm, and so is the ride—especially in Trailhawk and Trailhawk Elite guise. It’s fine on the highway, but in city driving, the Compass isn’t the most comfortable vehicle to spend time in.
  • The Compass isn’t the most spacious vehicle in its category. While the back seat is fine for two adults or three kids, cargo space is average at best. In addition, the load floor isn’t completely flat. The RAV4, Forester, CR-V, Outlander and Tiguan are more accommodating.
