The Block-Audi combination can only lead to tire smoke.
The brief video is clear: Ken Block will be joining Audi. Block’s past association with Ford did wonders for the racer-cum-hoonigan and certainly did not harm Ford’s reputation as a builder of fun and powerful cars. But when it comes to driving slideways, few brands tip their hats to Audi and their legendary quattro AWD technology.
It’s unclear what Block will do with Audi, therefore we can speculate. Based on the video alone, we can safely assume that Audi Sport will be heavily involved. We note that Block is picked up from the airport in an RS e-tron GT which, to us, means that he will be burning tires via electrons, and not hydro-carbons. Block was also given the opportunity to drive the EV and in short, liked it quite a bit.
Ken Block Parts Ways With Ford Performance, Gives Fitting Sendoff
The numerous images and footage of past Audi vehicles racing in various series is the only part that leaves us wondering what he will actually do with Audi. Will he enter an e-tron in rallycross, rallying, gymkhana, or off-road racing? All of the above?
We think the association between the two brands is extremely wise. Block’s known for big ICE power and high-performance driving. He may certainly get a few older petrol-heads to join the EV bandwagon.
We also love Block’s smirk at the very end of the video. He may, after all, find himself behind the wheel of an Audi RS Q e-tron for the January 2022 running of the famous Dakar Rally.
