The 2024 Kia Sorento, revealed at the Los Angeles Auto Show, introduces updates across design, technology, and performance in its latest model. Aimed at maintaining a competitive stance in the midsize three-row SUV segment, this refresh brings new features and improvements.
Design and Interior Enhancements
The 2024 Sorento adopts design elements from Kia’s “Opposites United” philosophy, integrating features from both the Telluride and EV9. The SUV features a rectangular grille and vertically stacked LED projector headlamps. Its Star Map lighting elements add a distinctive, modern touch. At the rear, vertical taillamps draw inspiration from the Telluride.
Inside, the Sorento offers a panoramic curved display with dual 12.3-inch screens, contributing to a tech-forward cabin environment. The interior design is further enhanced by new color options, including Olive Brown and Sage, providing a refreshed look and feel.
Performance and Off-Road Capabilities
The Sorento’s engine lineup includes a standard 2.5-liter I-4 GDI for the LX and S trims, and a more powerful 2.5-liter turbocharged I-4 GDI for the upper trims. These engines are designed to deliver reliable performance. The SUV also offers an all-wheel-drive option with torque vectoring for improved handling.
The new X-Line and X-Pro variants cater to those seeking enhanced off-road capabilities. The X-Line features a rugged design with a center-locking differential, while the X-Pro is equipped with 17-inch wheels and all-terrain tires, along with a towing capacity of up to 4,000 lbs.
Advanced Technology and Safety
Kia‘s next-generation Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) system is a highlight in the 2024 Sorento, providing enhanced processing and user experience. Standard wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay across all trims, along with Digital Key 2.0, reflect the SUV’s commitment to connectivity and convenience.
Safety remains a priority, with 10 standard Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, including updated features like Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist and Lane Keeping Assist. Additional systems like Smart Cruise Control-Machine Learning and Highway Driving Assist 2 further augment the Sorento’s safety profile.
