Kia Seltos Adds Safety Kit, Nightfall Trim for 2022

More kit for Kia Seltos

  • More driver assistance for 2022 Seltos

  • Nightfall trim gets black wheels and grille

The Kia Seltos moved quickly into a position as one of the company’s hottest sellers, even with less than a full year on the market. What do you do with a sales success for 2022? You add black trim and wheels and call it something dark. Kia has settled on a Nightfall Edition badge, applied to the turbocharged version, and it’s just part of the 2022 Kia Seltos Lineup.

There are more changes than that of course, starting with Kia adding forward collision avoidance assist with pedestrian detection, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, driver attention warning, and high beam assist all as standard across the board. Last year they were limited to higher trims. The second from the bottom S model gains Kia’s 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation, UVO connectivity, and remote start, and the SX AWD model adds a new flat-bottom steering wheel and gains the stylish addition of a plum-coloured interior.

As for the Nightfall Edition, it will come with AWD as well as the 1.6L turbo-four with 175 hp that comes paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Nightfall adds 18-inch matte black alloy wheels, a unique black grille, and what Kia calls “rugged stand-up roof rails and rugged side sills.” Nightfall also makes for a more affordable way to access the 1.6T engine, starting from $26,690 well below the $27,990 price of the SX.

The base Seltos LX AWD does get a slight price hike for 2022, starting from $22,490. S comes in front-drive for $22,690 or AWD for $24,190, while EX is AWD only for $25,790. All prices exclude $1,175 destination. Kia didn’t say when exactly the 2022 models would begin to arrive at dealers.
