Kia EV5 offers up to 530 km WLTP range, DC fast charging in 30 minutes.
Built on E-GMP platform, EV5 features AWD, 1,200 kg towing and spacious family interior.
Global launch starts in Korea and Europe in late 2025; Canadian sales expected early 2026.
Kia has revealed more details on the hot new EV5, a fully electric compact SUV designed for family use and outdoor activities. Built on Hyundai Motor Group’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the EV5 is set to launch in Korea and Europe in the second half of 2025, with North American sales following in early 2026.
The EV5 serves as a central addition to Kia’s expanding all-electric lineup, which includes the EV3, EV4, EV6, and EV9.
The EV5 adopts Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ design language, combining geometric lines with plenty of SUV character. It measures 4,610 mm in length with a 2,750 mm wheelbase, offering a spacious cabin and a maximum cargo volume of up to 1,650 litres when the rear seats are folded.
At the front, the SUV features a wide bonnet and three-dimensional ‘Star Map’ daytime running lights, paired with square fenders and sculpted wheel arches – a shrunken and slightly updated look that began with the EV9. A clean tailgate, unique 19-inch wheels, and vertical rear lamps complete the exterior.

Inside, the EV5 incorporates a wide display that integrates a 12.3-inch digital cluster, 12.3-inch infotainment screen, and a dedicated 5-inch climate panel into a streamlined dashboard. The cabin layout includes a sliding centre console for added storage, rear seat-back tables, and a rear sliding armrest with cupholders. Rear seats can fold nearly flat to extend the luggage area.
The EV5 will be offered with two nickel-cobalt-manganese battery packs, 60.3 kWh and 81.4 kWh, delivering up to 530 km on the WLTP cycle. Charging from 10 to 80 percent takes about 30 minutes using DC fast charging.

All-wheel drive is available, along with Kia’s i-Pedal 3.0 technology, which allows drivers to adjust regenerative braking for smoother one-pedal driving. The EV5 supports Vehicle-to-Load functionality to power external devices, with future Vehicle-to-Grid readiness also planned.
Towing capacity reaches up to 1,200 kg in Korea and Europe, or 1,800 lbs for North America, with Trailer mode automatically adjusting range estimates based on load.
Designed to meet stringent global safety standards, the EV5 includes seven airbags and a reinforced body. Kia expects the model to achieve ratings equivalent to Euro NCAP 5-Star and KNCAP Grade 1.Driver assistance systems include Highway Driving Assist 2 with Hands-On Detection, Remote Smart Parking Assist 2, and much more.
More details, such as pricing and trims, will come as market launch approaches.
