An updated Kia Stinger was never formally announced.
The Kia Stinger is a fan and driver favorite but sales are not following.
Images show new headlights and wheels.
We’re huge fans of the Kia Stinger. Last fall, we reported that the odds against the Stinger getting a facelift were grim. Kia’s flagship sports sedan never took off the way most members of the automotive media, and Kia, though. Weak sales and sustained move away from cars in favour of SUVs supported the demise of the Kia Stinger. Recently, camo’d Kia Stingers were spotted driving about.
Autopostkorea published images of a number of Stingers roaming about covered in the typical camouflage however their assessment, as well as our own, is that the changes will be minimal. The head- and taillights are different on some of the units as are the wheels, some measuring 18-inches while others, 19-inches. In some of our reviews, we actually note that the wheel design is a weak point in the Stinger’s overall design.
Generally speaking, the spotted Kia Stinger cars displayed few other changes. There are a few updates on board where we can see a new infotainment display with little more to add. If we’re honest, these small changes are the result of a decision to keep costs as low as possible.
These upgrades are unlikely to change the Kia Stinger’s fate, unfortunately. We’re just happy that it’ll be around for a few more years. The story says it will be launched as early as this summer.
