Kia to End EV6 Sales in Canada After 2025 Model Year

EV6 removed from Canadian lineup as Kia Canada concentrates on promising new EV5 SUV

  • Kia will discontinue the EV6 in Canada starting with the 2026 model year.

  • EV6 GT performance trim was already pulled earlier in 2025 ahead of broader phase-out.

  • The Canada-only EV5 starts at $46,662, overlapping with current EV6 pricing and features.

Kia will stop selling the EV6 electric crossover in Canada after the 2025 model year, following the arrival of the Canada-exclusive 2027 EV5. The move effectively ends the model’s Canadian run just four years after its debut.

Kia Canada has not publicly confirmed the discontinuation other than at the 2026 EV4 launch currently underway in Spain. As of last week, no 2026 EV6 details have been released, and Kia Canada’s website still does not show a 2026 EV6 as part of its builder. The high-performance EV6 GT trim was withdrawn earlier in 2025.

Kia Discreetly Prices Anticipated 2027 EV5 From $46,662

The decision coincides with the launch of the EV5, which enters the Canadian market with a starting price of $46,662. That figure places the new compact electric SUV within striking distance of the base 2025 Light RWD EV6 trims, priced from $52,500 with fees. The real issue is the EV5 Wind AWD, which starts at $53,162.

The pricing and positioning of the EV5 confirm it will serve as Kia’s primary midsize electric SUV in Canada moving forward. Available with either a 60.4 kWh or 81.4 kWh battery, the EV5 offers up to an estimated 471 km of range, front- or all-wheel drive, and access to Tesla’s Supercharger network via the NACS standard.

Should You Buy the 2025 Kia EV6 GT-Line?

The EV6 GT, which was dropped earlier in 2025, delivered 576 horsepower and dual-motor AWD capability. However, its higher price and performance focus likely limited its long-term fit within Kia Canada’s EV lineup.

While the EV6 remains available in other global markets, Kia has not announced whether the model will return to Canada in a future generation. The EV5 will not be offered in the United States, where the EV6 will continue in Kia’s lineup.
