The 2021 Kia Forte is a compact car offered in four-sedan and five-door hatchback body styles, although the latter is not available in the United States. Above the base and mid-range trim levels are performance-minded GT variants that benefit from a sportier appearance and a more powerful engine.
The FE, LXS and GT Line trims in the United States, along with the LX, EX, EX+ and EX Premium trims in Canada are equipped with a naturally aspirated 2.0L inline four-cylinder engine that develops 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed manual transmission is available in the base variants, while a continuously variable automatic transmission, or what Kia calls IVT (Intelligent Variable Transmission), is found is most trim levels with the 2.0L engine.
The GT and GT Limited variants of the 2021 Kia Forte rely on a turbocharged 1.6L four that develops 201 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque, managed by either a six-speed manual or a dual-clutch, seven-speed automatic.
Available features in the Forte include 16- to 18-inch alloy wheels, a power sunroof, leatherette upholstery, a 10-way power driver’s seat, heated and ventilated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, an eight-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, a 320-watt Harman/Kardon sound system, a heated steering wheel (Canada only), heated rear seats (Canada only), UVO Intelligence connected services, wireless phone charging and more. Advanced safety features such as autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning and lane keep assist, driver attention warning, blind-spot monitoring, high beam assist and adaptive cruise control are all available as well.
