Koenigsegg builds the world’s ex-fastest car, and now, the fastest production car ever, the Jesko. But it’s more than just about speed.
Earlier today, Jesko von Koenigsegg and his wife, Brita, were on-hand at the world-premiere his namesake vehicle at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. Jesko is Christian von Koenigsegg’s father. The Koenigsegg Jesko is about emotions.
The Koenigsegg Jesko is assembled upon a newly re-designed carbon fibre tub and chassis. This new platform provides occupants with more legroom, headroom and greater visibility more in line with what we typically expect from a grand touring car, and not a world-class hyper track-weapon. The cabin is loaded with the finest hides, alloys alcantara, carbon fibre and more. The Jesko’s about luxury.
Powertrain-wise, the completely re-designed 5.0 litre twin-turbo V8 engine produces 1280-horsepower and up to 1,106 lb.-ft. of torque on standard gasoline. On E85 biofuel, this same mill will generate 1600-horsepower.
To it is mated a ground-breaking new 9-speed Koenigsegg Light Speed Transmission (LST) which features a unique multi-clutch design and UPOD technology (Ultimate Power On Demand). This technology allows the transmission to skip gears on a downshift. In other words, it can go from 8th to 4th without selecting 7th, 6th and 5th first. The Jesko’s about mechanical superiority.
The Koenigsegg Jesko has all the power and capability to reach 300 mph (480 km/h). It also has the necessary support to keep all involved safe. The Jesko includes advanced aerodynamics that generates over 1,000kg of downforce and active rear-wheel steering for ultimate stability. The Jesko is about speed.
We predict that many more stories and details will be shared involving this marvel of automotive technology, design, and performance.
