Koenigsegg and Polestar Are Apparently Working Together On A Secret Project

Could the Swedes team up to take down Tesla?

  • Koenigsegg and Polestar are working together on what could possibly be a high-performance electric vehicle

Swedish automakers Koenigsegg and Polestar are apparently working together on a car project. What this project entails and what the result could be, however, are unknown.

Koenigsegg’s Instagram channel shared the news today, posting a picture of the all-new 2021 Koenigsegg Gemera and the Polestar Precent Concept. The caption simply reads “Something exciting coming soon. Stay tuned. #KoenigseggXPolestar”. You have our attention, Koenigsegg.

So what could Polestar and Koenigsegg possibly be working on? A new fully-electric roadster to take on the Tesla Roadster? A high-performance Polestar sedan to battle it out with the Model S Performance? Koenigsegg’s rumored EV?

Polestar has two models, the hybrid Polestar 1 coupe and Polestar 2 electric fastback, while Koenigsegg has the upcoming Jesko and Gemera. The latter is the brand’s first four-seater and uses a three-cylinder engine with three electric motors to develop over 1,700 horsepower.

5 Questions About the 2021 Koenigsegg Gemera Answered

Koenigsegg is in such a different world than Polestar that we can’t imagine both companies working on a joint model. We think both brands are going to share expertise on electrified powertrains and share in the cost and burden of developing them.

Still, we are certainly looking forward to seeing what these two Swedish automakers have in store for us.
