Jesko Absolut sets 25.21-second 0-400-0 km/h world record
Software updates deliver 2.5-second improvement over previous benchmark
Rear-wheel drive hypercar outperforms all-wheel drive electric vehicles
Koenigsegg has reclaimed the world record for the fastest 0-400-0 km/h acceleration and deceleration run by a homologated road car, with the Jesko Absolut achieving a time of 25.21 seconds at Örebro airfield on August 7, 2025.
Factory test driver Markus Lundh piloted the Swedish hypercar to the new benchmark, improving upon Koenigsegg’s own previous record of 27.83 seconds set in June 2024 by more than 2.5 seconds. The achievement solidifies the Jesko Absolut’s position as the fastest production vehicle in this demanding acceleration test.
The record run was completed despite challenging weather conditions, with Lundh navigating a drying track surface following earlier rainfall. The same Jesko Absolut used in last year’s record attempt was employed for this latest achievement, demonstrating the effectiveness of software improvements rather than hardware modifications.
Absolut Overdrive Updates Optimize Multi-Clutch Transmission

The dramatic time improvement stems from new software strategies dubbed “Absolut Overdrive,” which Koenigsegg plans to distribute to customer vehicles. The enhancements focus on the Light Speed Transmission and Engine Management systems, along with an advanced torque control system that works in conjunction with the Jesko’s revolutionary 9-speed multi-clutch transmission.
The Light Speed Transmission, developed entirely in-house by Koenigsegg, features Ultimate Power on Demand (UPOD) technology that enables instant gear changes between any forward gears. Unlike traditional dual-clutch transmissions that can only pre-select adjacent gears, the LST allows direct shifts from seventh gear to fourth gear without passing through intermediate ratios, ensuring optimal power delivery throughout the acceleration phase.
“Our software engineers have been tweaking and adjusting the Light Speed Transmission & Engine Management system and have introduced a new torque control system which manages the grip of the Absolut like never before,” said Christian von Koenigsegg, founder and CEO. The LST’s multi-clutch architecture, weighing just 90 kilograms compared to 140 kilograms for traditional systems, allows for instantaneous optimization of gear ratios during the demanding acceleration phases of the record run.
The rear-wheel-drive configuration of the Jesko Absolut, powered by a twin-turbocharged 5.0-litre V8 engine, continues to outperform all-wheel-drive electric vehicles in straight-line acceleration tests. Von Koenigsegg noted the significance of this achievement for internal combustion engine technology.
Record Times Span Multiple Measurement Standards
The record run produced several milestone times across different measurement standards:
- 0-400-0 km/h: 21 seconds (new world record)
- 0-400 km/h acceleration: 77 seconds
- 400-0 km/h deceleration: 44 seconds
- 0-250-0 mph: 67 seconds
- 0-250 mph acceleration: 18 seconds
- 250-0 mph deceleration: 49 seconds
The performance figures were verified using industry-standard Racelogic equipment, with the recorded data confirmed by Racelogic themselves. This verification process ensures the legitimacy of the record according to established automotive testing protocols.
Von Koenigsegg emphasized the collaborative nature of the achievement: “This run demonstrated the power of cross functional teamwork and exceptional communication between our in-house developed drivetrain systems. It’s a testament to the synergies between our engineering & development teams, our cutting-edge software architecture, and avant garde class leading mechanical solutions.”
The Jesko Absolut’s low drag coefficient, sophisticated traction control strategies, and optimized aerodynamics contributed to the record-setting performance. The software improvements will be made available to existing Jesko Absolut owners, ensuring all customers benefit from the technological advances developed through Koenigsegg’s continued testing programme.
