Leak shows screenshots of dealer order system
Confirms return of 3.5 HO as base Raptor mill
Just a day after we heard that Ford is growing increasingly tired of leaks from suppliers, here comes another one that looks like it happened at a dealership. This time it’s screenshots of official Ford order guide sites that have leaked and let us know that the upcoming Ford Raptor will start with an EcoBoost V6, and we expect it’ll also offer something with a little more shove.
The order guides were posted to F150gen14.com, showing code 99G for the 3.5L high output engine. That’s the name of the 3.5L twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 that’s in the 2020 Raptor, where it makes 450 hp, 50 more than it makes in regular F-150 pickup models and 75 hp more than the outgoing F-150. While that’s a hefty power level, thanks to the 700+ hp Ram 1500 TRX, it’s possible that the 2022 Raptor could make even more.
We’re also anticipating a V8 model to more closely compete with that Ram TRX, prototypes of which have been seen and heard around Dearborn.
Other information from the guides includes a twin-panel roof and 17-inch forged wheels as well as colours including Code Orange, Rapid Red, Velocity Blue, Antimatter Blue, Iconic Silver, Lead Foot, Agate Black, and Oxford White. A B&O Unleashed sound system is also on the list.
The 2022 Ford F-150 Raptor is set to be revealed in full early next month.
