The new Toyota Supra is one of the most anticipated cars of the upcoming Detroit auto show. As is often the case in the build-up to a major unveiling, leaked images of the 2020 Supra have surfaced.
In this case, a single image showing the new Supra from the front found its way onto SupraMKV. As many have already pointed out, the design isn’t too different from the FT1-Concept Toyota unveiled at the same show back in 2014.
It certainly has a very aggressive look with its massive air intakes, headlights that make up almost the entire front end, and slightly pointed nose that somewhat reminds us of an F1 car. It also appears to be a very low car with minimal ground clearance, although that may just be the angle of the image.
You’re not a major vehicle if you don’t have some kind of leak pre-launch. The Supra, as Detroit’s unofficial featured vehicle unveiling, is sure to have plenty of them in the next few weeks.
What we know already about the 2020 Toyota Supra
We don’t know much about the new Toyota Supra, but some information has been made available. We know it will share basic underpinnings with the BMW Z4, but we don’t expect too many similarities with the BMW roadster given that the collaboration between the two companies occurred 4 years ago.
The partnership between the Japanese and German automakers was really just to set the groundwork of what both cars would become years later, but they were always going to be quite different. We also know that the Supra will be powered by a single-turbo, 3.0-liter straight-6 engine that will deliver more than 300 horsepower.
And, that’s about it. For more information, we’ll just all have to stay tuned.
