Lexus unexpectedly demonstrated the LFA Concept on the Goodwood hill climb.
Electric flagship shares development technologies with GR GT and GR GT3 prototypes.
Production specifications and launch timing remain unconfirmed.
Lexus delivered one of the biggest surprises at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed by giving its LFA Concept battery-electric supercar its first public dynamic demonstration. Originally expected to remain on static display in the festival’s Supercar Paddock, the camouflaged prototype instead completed runs on the event’s famous hill climb course.
The appearance marked the first time the next-generation concept was driven publicly, and some 17 years after the original magnificent and highly desirable V10-powered Lexus LFA prototype made its debut at the Goodwood FoS.

The LFA Concept appeared alongside Toyota Gazoo Racing’s GR GT and GR GT3 development prototypes. Lexus said the three vehicles share selected technologies developed across the Toyota performance portfolio. This approach spans production and motorsport hybrid systems as well as electric performance vehicles.
A roster of experienced racing drivers handled demonstration duties during the festival, held from July 9 to 12. Participants included Toyota Gazoo Racing World Rally Team driver Elfyn Evans, Toyota Racing Vice Chairman Kazuki Nakajima, development driver Hiroaki Ishiura, four-time Super GT champion Sho Tsuboi, Super GT competitor Yuichi Nakayama, and Nürburgring specialist Uwe Kleen.

Lexus describes the LFA Concept as its vision for a future electric sports car designed to combine advanced driving performance with the emotional character associated with the original LFA. Will it outsell the original LFA? As you may recall, the car was all but a complete flop. Today, it’s a highly collectable and desirable supercar. It seems unlikely that the electric LFA will eventually garner the same affection; however, time will tell.
Project General Manager Yukihiro Yukita said the vehicle is intended to deliver a multi-sensory driving experience unique to Lexus while exploring the performance potential of battery-electric sports cars. He added that engineers have focused on combining aerodynamic efficiency with sculptural styling to create an immersive driving experience intended to leave a lasting emotional impression.
Lexus has not announced production timing, technical specifications, performance figures or market availability for the LFA Concept.
