2026 Lexus ES to offer AWD hybrid and FWD/ AWD BEV models in Canadian market.
Redesigned on GA-K platform with expanded dimensions and new design concept.
Features Lexus Safety System+ 4.0 and enhanced multimedia with 14-inch touchscreen.
Lexus unveiled the 2026 ES at the Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition, introducing the first core Lexus model reimagined for multiple electrified platforms. The eighth-generation luxury sedan will be available with hybrid and battery electric (BEV) powertrains and in front- and all-wheel drive configurations.
The fully redesigned ES is developed under the concept “Experience Elegance and Electrified Sedan,” integrating Lexus’ evolving design language inspired by the LF-ZC BEV concept vehicle. It features a low-profile, trunkless exterior, a wide stance, and spindle body elements that shape its new visual identity.

The ES’ dimensions have grown, with the vehicle length extended by approximately 165 mm and the wheelbase by 80 mm compared to the previous generation. This equates to a more spacious cabin, and the redesigned platform also allows for a higher seating position and broader field of vision. The interior adopts Lexus’ Clean Tech x Elegance theme, characterized by minimalist design and advanced material use.
The ES lineup includes the hybrid ES 350h, which features a 2.5L inline four-cylinder engine and an integrated eAxle system. This model will come with standard AWD. The hybrid system includes a new power control unit and contributes to improved noise reduction and cabin refinement.
Two BEV models are new to the ES series. The ES 350e is a front-wheel drive configuration with a manufacturer-estimated range of 480 km on 19-inch wheels. The ES 500e includes all-wheel drive via the DIRECT4 system.
The ES is built on the updated GA-K platform, which has been redesigned to accommodate HEV and BEV configurations. Rigidity is increased across key structural zones, contributing to reduced body vibration and more responsive steering. For the first time, a multi-link rear suspension system and a MacPherson strut front suspension are featured on the ES.

Inside, the driver-centric cockpit layout follows the Lexus “tazuna” concept, with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14-inch centre touchscreen. The Lexus Interface multimedia system includes standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and native voice and navigation integration. Interior materials include bamboo-layered trim, embossed synthetic leather, and ambient lighting. A Mark Levinson sound system enhances the in-cabin audio experience.
More information on the safety features, technical specifications, and pricing will be released closer to the model’s Canadian launch in 2026.
