It’s 46 lbs lighter. 600 headed for the US. Unknown for Canada.
It’ll roll on 20-inch forged BBS wheels.
Will be based on the already updated for 2020 CTR.
Yes, that’s Phoenix Yellow.
For the 2020 model year, Honda had already shared with us all that the wonderful Type R was to receive a few updates including two-piece front discs, a new colour, and a few other changes. On the heels of that announcement, Honda returns with a limited 2021 Limited Edition which will be nothing short of the ultimate street-legal track-focused variant of the Honda Civic Type R.
Once again, yes, that’s Phoenix Yellow.
We’re thinking that Honda wants to do something about losing the title of the fastest FWD production car to ever lap the Nürburgring. Last May, Renault sent a Mégane RS around the 20.6 km block and beat the Type R’s 7:43.8 time by 3.7 seconds.
The 2021 Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition will be 46 lb. lighter thanks lightweight, forged 20-inch aluminum wheels from BBS, reduced sound-deadening materials, and removal of needless features such as a rear wiper, tonneau cover, and rear heater ducts. Furthermore, the car will get specially tuned dampers and recalibrated steering – it was already among the best in the industry.
The 2021 Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition will retain the services of the 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine which is good for 306-horsepower and 295 lb.-ft. of torque.
We’ve reached out to Honda Canada to find out how many will come to Canada. A pre-order website is going to be online soon. 20 are headed to the UK and 600 to the US – we should be good for 100 we think. Pricing is not yet known however we surmise it’ll be between $50,000 and $52,000, up from the 2020 CTR’s $45,470.
