News Lincoln Continental Coach Door Edition Returns

Lincoln Continental Coach Door Edition Returns

The Lincoln Continental Coach Door Edition is back, and like the last one it ain’t cheap

  • Lincoln Continental Coach Door Edition will cost $115,470
  • 150 units will be built
  • Orders begin on October 4th

The 2020 Lincoln Continental Coach Door Edition will feature the rear suicide doors just like the 2019 model which sold out in less than 48 hours.

Only 80 units of the 2019 edition were built. This time, Lincoln isn’t taking any chances and plans to build 150 Coach Door Editions to keep up with demand.

The Continental Coach Door Edition is built using the top-of-the-line Continental Black Label as a starting point and is powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 that delivers 400 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque.

The rear seat area includes 2 USB outlets, a 110-volt power outlet, deployable handbook hook, audio and climate controls, special badging, and a wireless charging pad.

There are three exterior colors:

  • Infinite Black
  • Pristine While Metallic
  • Chroma Crystal Blue

The black and white colors are available with a monochromatic package. Inside, two themes are available:

  • Alpine / Chalet Theme
  • Jet Black / Thoroughbred Theme (not available with Chroma Crystal Blue)

The 2020 Lincoln Continental Coach Door goes on sale today.

Should You Buy a 2019 Lincoln Continental?

It’s hard to wrap our heads around the Coach Door. The starting point is a great car that deserves more love for what it offers in terms of comfort and overall dynamics (yes, the Continental is a lot better than most think), and the suicide doors are just plain cool. On the other hand, who will spend over $115,000 on a Continental when you can have just about anything else in the luxury full-size segment?

You also get the feeling that Lincoln got really lucky on this one. We are sure nobody in the board room expected this idea to work as well as it did. The first 80 were great, but Lincoln may be pushing their luck with an extra 150 Coach Door models.
