The Nugget is the campervan version of the Transit Custom offered by Ford in Europe.
The Transit Custom Nugget can be ordered with diesel or plug-in hybrid powertrains.
Loder1899 gave this model a lift kit, all-terrain tires, and a roof tent, among other modifications.
Loder1899, a German tuning company, has unveiled a more rugged version of the Ford Transit Custom Nugget campervan.
Not available in North America, the new Transit Custom is the latest version of Ford’s midsize cargo and passenger van which slots between the compact Transit Connect and the full-size Transit.
In order to compete with the Volkswagen California campervan, Ford has decided to offer the Nugget, a version of the Transit Custom that features all you need for a weekend excursion away from civilization right from the factory.
Included in the package are sleeping accommodations for four people, large storage spaces, a fold-out table, a fridge, a gas cooktop, a sink with hot water, and front seats that can rotate 180 degrees when the vehicle is stopped.
Buyers can choose one of two powertrains in the Transit Custom Nugget. The first is a 2.0L turbocharged diesel that delivers 168 horsepower and the second is a plug-in hybrid system that combines a 2.5L Atkinson cycle gasoline four-cylinder engine and an electric motor in order to deliver 229 horsepower. This version also benefits from up to 50 kilometres of fully electric range thanks to an 11.8 kWh battery.
Starting from there, Loder1899, a subsidiary of Delta4x4, adds elements that give the Nugget additional off-roading abilities and a decidedly more rugged appearance.
These include a lifted suspension that brings an additional 80 millimetres of ground clearance, off-road wheels wearing all-terrain tires, an all-wheel drive drivetrain, a bulbar with auxiliary projector lamps, and a roof rack with yet more auxiliary lights. Also part of the package are a roof tent, a ladder to reach said tent, and a full-size spare tire also installed on the roof rack.
Visual modifications also include extended wheel arches, tinted windows, and a black and bronze paint scheme.
The pictures that have been provided by Delta4x4 don’t include any views of the interior, which is likely to stay similar to the factory Nugget configuration.
Pricing has yet to be announced for this upcoming conversion, but Loder1899 says drivers who want to have their Transit Custom Nugget made into a rugged adventure camper can get in touch with them to work out the final details.
