Long Range Plus Tesla Model S And X Gain Extra Range.

Still all the power, but now Tesla Model S and Model X drivers can go a little further with extra range.

  • Model S range now tops out at 627km.
  • Model X range now tops out at 564km.
  • Performance versions are unchanged.

Tesla is seemingly ready with an answer for every potential challenge the competition can throw at it. Just ahead of an expected big powertrain update due sometime this year, Tesla has updated their existing Model S and Model X vehicles with range increases for new vehicles.

The Tesla Model S Long Range Plus sees its range go from 600km to 627km and with it now come new 19-inch Tempest wheels. The Tesla Model X Long Range Plus goes from 525km to 564km however no wheel changes are implemented here.

About the “plaid” powertrain update coming sometime this year, little is known but much is anticipated. A battery capacity boost should be part of these improvements, as well as potential increases in charging rates. We’re thinking more power too…

Much like electrek, who broke the story, we think that these increases in range are somewhat negligible and essentially only serve to get the media to talk about Tesla, and here we are. Pretty much, Tesla’s warming us up for the near future, and turning our attention away from the Porsche Taycan
