An FCA dealership in San Leandro, California was raided during protests related to the death of George Floyd
Dodge Challenger Hellcat, Charger Widebody, and Grand Cherokee among vehicles stolen
Video of the looting posted to social media
San Leandro Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM SRT in Alameda County, California near Oakland fell victim to looters last night. Like in many other cities in the US. Oakland has seen looting in the wake of protests related to the murder of George Floyd, a black man who was killed after police used excessive force to restrain him in Minneapolis, Minnesota on May 25.
Yes, George Floyd was murdered by a police officer. Let’s remove any potential uncertainties about where we stand on that notion. Now, back to the dealership in question.
Videos surfaced on social media last night showing looters driving off the dealer’s lot behind the wheel of stolen Challenger, Charger, and Grand Cherokee models among others. The fact that one of the thieves tried to do burnouts in a Grand Cherokee Laredo tells you everything you need to know about these clowns.
We generally don’t take such an opinionated stand on the day’s news, but this is plain wrong and does nothing to serve the memory of victims of injustice. The people behind this and the other thousands of examples of looting seen across America should be ashamed of themselves.
A video shot by the NBC Bay Area helicopter shows the extent of the damage the looters left in their wake.
It’s not clear what happened of the cars that were stolen at this point.
Other dealerships have been hit by protesters since the civil unrest began last week across the US. A Mercedes-Benz dealership in Oakland was attacked over the weekend and a Mercedes-AMG GT set on fire. Other cars in the showroom were vandalized.
