Debut was originally planned for the New York Auto Show.
The Lucid Air will take on the likes of the Tesla Model S and Porsche Taycan.
Lucid is building a dedicated factory in Casa Grande, AZ.
We’re quite certain that Porsche and Tesla would like to say a word or two about the Lucid Air bring the world’s first true luxury EV however if the production car delivers everything the company says it will, the Air may very well be. This title will be hard-fought by Lucid once the electric Jaguar XJ sedan and the Mercedes-Benz EQS arrive, to name but two rivals. We’ll know more on September 9th.
Like most other businesses and car companies, Lucid was forced to freeze its activities during the lockdown. Good news for its employees, no one was laid off or furloughed. In fact, more than 160 new employees were hired in the last 90 days alone, and the goal is to add another 700 by the end of 2020. In the process, the company’s factory in Casa Grande, AZ is expanding in preparation for the anticipated Air sedan.
“Although we are experiencing an unprecedented time in our history, the determination of this company’s employees in developing a game-changing electric vehicle burns ever more brightly,” said Peter Rawlinson, CEO, and CTO, Lucid Motors. “Our mission is to deliver sustainable luxury with class-leading range in the form of the Lucid Air, and we are closer than ever to turning that dream into reality.”
The Lucid Air is a promising vehicle already surpassing range expectations in testing and by the looks of the provided images, it certainly looks rich and luxurious.
