This range bests all current EVs including Tesla.
The test was done at speeds up to 70mph.
Actual road trip covered nearly 1,000 miles, surpassing 400 miles per charge.
400 miles, or 645 km, is quite a distance for any EV to cover on one single charge. In order to demonstrate their EV technology’s full abilities, Lucid sent out two of its employees on a long nearly 1,000-mile (1,600 km) road trip. The Lucid Air Sedan is a gorgeous and luxurious car with impressive power. This exercise has served to demonstrate that it’s quite a long-range hauler as well.
The journey with the Lucid Air prototype was done on highways, city roads and Highway 1. It took them from Lucid’s Newark, California headquarters with a full charge up all the way to the Santa Monica pier. From there and following another full charge, they drove through Hollywood and Beverly Hills and then back to the Bay Area along the I-5 at highway speeds
Green Car Reports caught up with Lucid after the run and discussed a few things and learned that the tested Air weighed slightly less than the production car will. This Air prototype featured the 110 kWh battery pack, which enables the 400+-mile range. The dual-motor setup provides the car with enough power to launch to 60mph from a standstill in less than 2.5 seconds, on the way to a top speed of more than 200mph.
Online reservations for the Lucid Air are already available. Production was slated to begin this month however the Coronavirus outbreak has postponed these plans.
