New EV promises longest-yet SUV range
Air platform could mean 1,200 hp EV SUV
Lucid is getting ready to reveal its second EV. The Lucid Gravity will make its debut on November 16th at the L.A. Auto Show, and the company said that production should start early next year.
The announcement came along with a tease of the Gravity’s design on social media. It’s just a silhouette, but we’ve already seen camouflaged prototypes of the electric crossover, so we already know a lot about how it will look.
Based on the same platform as the Lucid Air, the Gravity will offer a glass roof like the Air and a new and more intuitive dashboard design.
Lucid’s LEAP platform is already capable of more than 1,200 hp and range estimates of well over 800 km. Lucid hasn’t said what the Gravity can do, but those figures back up the company’s claims that it will be the longest-range electric SUV on the market.
It’s expected to be a Kia EV9-sized crossover, with seating for seven in three rows. Production will likely take place alongside the Air in Casa Grande, AZ.
Lucid just finished launching the latest iteration of the Air, called the Saphire. That model, with 1,234 hp, is the company’s quickest yet. It arrived alongside a new base model Pure RWD. The Lucid Gravity will likely launch in higher trim grades like the Air, with extreme and entry models to follow.
