Some would-be owners have received letters from Rivian with the unfortunate news.
Deliveries have been delayed many times since late last year.
Rivian, like all other automakers, continues to deal with supply chain issues, among other difficulties that have plagued the industry for well over a year. Launching the production line was a struggle and delays have forced Rivian to revise its 2022 output plans at least twice. Canadians will be hardest hit by these setbacks.
Rivian was planning on assembling 40,000 new EVs this year but ongoing complications have reduced that figure to 25,000. So far, in the first half of 2022, the automaker has built only 7,696 units.

According to Carsoops, and this is easily believable, these customers are miffed. One upset would-be Rivian owner placed an order for a Launch Edition R1T sometime in 2020. Up until recently, the estimated delivery was set between July and September, now it’s been pushed back to a year from now.
We don’t want to be Debby Downers but we think that Rivian is not quite done with delivery delay notifications. Earlier this month, reports indicated that Canadians were gonna get their truck in November…
