Maserati Bids Farewell to the V8 Engine with the Quattroporte Grand Finale

Maserati marks the end of the Quattroporte and the V8 engine with a special one-off model.

  • This car is both the last Quattroporte and the Last Maserati to be Powered by a V8 engine.

  • The Quattroporte Grand Finale was commissioned by an American customer.

  • The same buyer also took delivery of the MC20 Iris, which was unveiled at the same time.

Maserati recently unveiled two special cars that were commissioned by one of its American customers: the Quattroporte Grand Finale and the MC-20 Iris.

As its name suggests, the Quattroporte Grand Finale marks the end of the line for the current generation of the brand’s flagship sedan, after ten model years on the market.

In addition, this last Quattroporte is also the last Maserati vehicle to be powered by a combustion V8 engine. Closing a long chapter in the brand’s history.

While a next generation of Quattroporte is planned towards the end of the decade, it is expected to only be offered with an electric drivetrain.

Interestingly, the Italian brand resurrected the eight-cylinder engine for this last edition since normal-production Quattroporte models could only be ordered with a turbocharged V6 powertrain after the end of the 2023 model year.

Other distinguishing features of the Quattroporte Grand Finale include its combination of Blu Nobile paint with brown leather upholstery, a blue-painted carbon fibre bodykit, a special badge containing the serial number, and a unique carbon fibre engine cover that is adorned with the signatures of the engineers that worked on the project.

As mentioned at the start, this historically significant Maserati was ordered by an American customer, who also commissioned a second unique car from the company.

Indeed, the Quattroporte Grand Finale will be joined in its owner’s garage by the MC-20 Iris, a one-off version of the brand’s newest sports car.

The defining feature of the MC-20 Iris is its Al Aqua Rainbow paint colour, which shifts from light blue to purple, depending on the angle at which it is viewed.

This same colour is used to accent the interior, notably at the top of the steering wheel, around both seats and on the column-mounted shift paddles.

While production of the Quattroporte has ended, those who want an MC-20 in their collection can still visit their Maserati dealer.
