Maserati plans to introduce another crossover before the end of the decade.
December’s Modena investor event is expected to detail Maserati’s future product strategy.
Combustion and electric powertrains remain in Maserati’s plans after its EV-only strategy curbed.
Maserati is preparing to grow its reduced model portfolio with another crossover before the end of the decade. This is an important step in defining the Italian luxury brand’s long-term position within Stellantis.
Details of the future crossover, including its size, powertrains and production timing, have not been disclosed. A more complete picture should emerge in December, when Maserati plans to hold an investor event in Modena, Italy. Maserati and Alfa Romeo head Santo Ficili said in September that the company is preparing a complete plan for the brand for that event.
The new model should arrive to partially replenish Maserati’s substantially reduced range. The Levante SUV and Quattroporte and Ghibli sedans left the lineup, while V8 engines have also sadly been discontinued. Ficili has also said Maserati needs to return to key segments where it is no longer represented, specifically those previously occupied by the Levante and Quattroporte.
For now, the product portfolio centres on the Grecale crossover and the GranTurismo and GranCabrio grand tourers, alongside the MCPURA sports car. Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa said in May that Maserati remains a distinct part of the automaker’s 14-brand portfolio as its luxury marque.
The Grecale, GranTurismo and GranCabrio have all been updated for the 2027 model year. Maserati introduced revised styling, extra performance and technical changes across the three nameplates in June. The GranTurismo and GranCabrio Trofeo now produce 582 hp from their twin-turbocharged 3.0L Nettuno V6, while selected Grecale trims receive a 385-hp version of the same engine.
Stellantis Confirms Maserati Survival with Two New Luxury Models Planned
Electrified Folgore variants remain part of the range, but Maserati has abandoned its previous plan to become an EV-only brand before the end of the decade. The 2027 Grecale Folgore, GranTurismo Folgore and GranCabrio Folgore continue alongside combustion-powered versions, enabling Maserati to offer its customers multiple propulsion options while its next product cycle takes shape.
The December presentation will therefore be especially significant for Maserati’s retail network, frustrated by the lack of product, especially utility vehicles. Beyond confirming future vehicles, the plan is expected to provide greater clarity around product positioning and the segments Maserati intends to contest.
