Matthew McConaughey, Pink Mist: The 2020 Lincoln Aviator Ad

The 2020 Lincoln Aviator is coming in hot with big output numbers. The ad however is pink…

We think the message is that there’s no need for a vulgar display of power, and performance. In McConaughey’s latest ad for Ford’s luxury brand, he remains just as cool and collected as always, this time at the wheel of the new 2020 Lincoln Aviator.

His words are simple but could mean a few things. He says:  “Performance comes in lots of flavors.” He goes on to describe something about an “amped-up over-tuned feeding-frenzy…” alluding to the “cause” of the pink mist. He ends on “Performance that just leaves you feeling better as a result. That’s the kind Lincoln’s about.”

At this point, it could be useful to remind you all that there are two powertrains featured with the new 2020 Lincoln Aviator. The first is a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 good for 400 horsepower and 415 lb.-ft. of torque sent to the rear or all four wheels. Alternatively, there’s a plug-in hybrid iteration powertrain that is based on the twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6. With the attached Lincoln electric powertrain, power rises to a formidable 494 combined horsepower and 630 lb.-ft. of torque.

2020 Lincoln Aviator promises to fly over potholes

If you’ve never heard of the “red-mist”, it’s what takes over when racing – it clouds your judgement. The pink mist could be a variation of the red mist but because McConaughey’s in a Lincoln Aviator, he doesn’t feel the need to step on it. The savings in fuel consumption and potentially avoiding a speeding ticket or a citation for reckless driving could explain why he feels better as a result of not hooning his Lincoln.

We drive the new 2020 Lincoln Aviator in a few weeks. We’ll let you know how we feel about the performance.
