The Mazda EZ-60 delivers a solid level of luxury, comfort, technology, and above all range—at a fraction of the prices we know in North America for equivalent electric products. Truly a slap in the face to other manufacturers.
- The base price of the electric version is $27,200 CAD
- It offers a range of up to 600 km under CLTC mode
- A range-extender powertrain is also available
At the latest Shanghai Auto Show, Mazda Motor Corporation unveiled its brand-new electric crossover SUV, the Mazda EZ-60. Developed in partnership with Changan Mazda and Changan Automobile, this is the second 100% electric vehicle created through this joint venture, following the EZ-6 sedan.
Modern Design and Energy Efficiency
The Mazda EZ-60 presents itself as a sleek and aerodynamic SUV, staying true to the “Future + Soul x Modern” philosophy. Integrated air ducts within the body improve energy efficiency at high speeds while also delivering a distinctive, futuristic style.

The mechanical architecture relies on a 50/50 weight distribution, independent suspension, and electronically controlled dampers to ensure a balanced drive, in line with the Jinba-Ittai spirit, Mazda’s cherished concept of a unique connection between driver and vehicle.
Two Eco-Friendly Powertrains
The EZ-60 will be offered in two versions:
- 100% electric, with a range of about 600 km (CLTC)
- Plug-in hybrid with a range extender, offering more than 1,000 km (CLTC) thanks to a 1.5L gasoline engine used solely as a generator
This dual approach meets the varied needs of consumers seeking sustainable mobility, reducing dependence on fossil fuels while addressing drivers’ concerns about range.

Smart Technologies
Mazda has integrated a wide array of intelligent features, including a connected cabin that can be controlled by voice, gesture, or touch. Being a Chinese-developed model, it also includes unique gadgets such as smart parking, remotely managed by voice command.
The highlight, however, is the massive 26.45-inch 5K central screen, complemented by a 3D head-up display. An immersive 23-speaker audio system, including headrest-integrated speakers, completes the onboard sound experience.

Pricing: A Shock Offensive
Mazda makes a bold move with an aggressive pricing strategy designed to conquer the Chinese market. Converted to Canadian dollars:
| Version | Price in yuan | Price in CAD (approx.) |
| PHEV Base | 119,900 ¥ | $23,300 CAD |
| PHEV Pro | 129,900 ¥ | $25,200 CAD |
| PHEV Max | 138,900 ¥ | $27,000 CAD |
| BEV Base | 139,900 ¥ | $27,200 CAD |
| BEV Pro | 149,900 ¥ | $29,200 CAD |
| BEV Max | 160,900 ¥ | $31,300 CAD |
With a rear-mounted 255-horsepower motor powered by a 31.7 kWh battery, the EZ-60 positions itself as an accessible, eco-friendly, and technologically advanced vehicle, at prices far below the Canadian market average for similar models. Unfortunately, Canada’s current 100% tariffs on electric vehicles built in China remain an insurmountable barrier for automakers wishing to bring such products to our market.
