One of the Mazda MX-5’s many secrets for its success is the number of special editions introduced over it 30-year career. One such was the 1993 Mazda Miata Limited Edition based on the Japanese Eunos Roadster. This car featured a unique colour scheme, chassis components and to this day remains very sought after. Mazda France has decided to revisit this car, which was knowns as the S Limited there, with a new 2020 Mazda MX-5 Eunos Edition.
Stories on the Mazda MX-5 Miata probably number in the millions, if not more in 2020. Mazda’s little roadster launched in 1989 and quickly began setting records for the best-selling sports in history. In 2016, it hit 1,000,000 examples and the love for it continues to grow.
Mazda France has decided to celebrate Miata Limited Edition by introducing a new MX-5 spec’d as it was, or nearly, 27 years ago. The new car, like the old, is draped in Jet Black Mica paint over a red leather interior. The original Limited edition rolled on lovely BBS basketweave alloy wheels while this new MX-5 will get forged 16-inch Rays wheels.
Only 110 of these car will be built and sold at a price of 34 600€ or more than $52,000 in today’s CDN dollars.

I would say it’s more a direct homage to the Eunos S-limited. Although the LE was individually numbered to 1500 the S-limited was a more striking car. Limited to 1000 only with gold BBS wheels and a proper nardi steering wheel as opposed to the airbag monstrosity in the LE. Shame its France only.
Incidentally, the photo of the interior with the wooden nardi is from the later 1.8 litre Eunos R-limited.
