Restoration programs for classic models offered by the automaker are nothing new. That said, one legendary model, the NA Miata, was left out in the dark.
That’s changed, although restoring your glory days Mazda Miata won’t be cheap. It will actually cost as much as a new and loaded Mazda MX-5 plus a week at the beach. Called the NA Roadster Restore Service, it was actually launched by Mazda in 2017, but this is the first we’ve heard of it. Thanks The Drive (Link Below).
Bringing your NA Miata back to life won’t be a cheap proposal. Basic packages cost 2 500 000 Yen, or roughly $30,000 in Canada or $23,000 USD. This will get you a new soft top, new lights, new wipers, a full respray, a new hood and a new trunk cover.
Other options exist to restore the interior with new carpets and upholstery, among other features. You can also request an engine rebuild or a suspension rebuild. Completed projects are covered by a 10,000-kilometre warranty and receive new 14-inch wheels with Bridgestone SF325 tires. If you tick every box, you essentially get a brand-new car. The only problem is that it will cost the same as a brand-new car or the equivalent of 5 quality NA Miatas.
Granted, NA Miata owners in North America don’t have to worry about deciding if the NA restoration service is worth it because it isn’t available to us at the moment. Only Japanese NA Miata models can be restored for now.
