This virtual race car is based on the Mazda RX-Vision Concept from 2015.
Will debut in Gran Turismo Sport on May 22, 2020.
We still don’t know if Mazda will build a production version of the RX-Vision.
The Mazda RX-Vision Concept debuted at the 2015 edition of the Tokyo Motor and still today, nearly five years later, we still talk about it. Looking back on the concept, it remains one of the most attractive designs we’ve ever seen. Furthering the enthusiasm for the concept is its name which suggests that the Mazda RX line of sports cars is not dead. While news of a production RX continues to elude us, Mazda further teases with this RX-Vision GT3 Concept Virtual Race Car.
The RX-Vision GT3 Concept was jointly developed with Polyphony Digital Inc. and the car will make its virtual debut on the Gran Turismo Sport video game for Sony Interactive Entertainment’s PlayStation 4 on May 22, 2020. Mazda admits that they are aiming to gain more fans and help continue the expansion of car culture. Not that you needed a reminder but this is the power of these video games.
As a bonus to those who use Mazda vehicles in Gran Turismo Sport, they will automatically be granted seed rights to participate in the FIA Certified Gran Turismo Championship (world tours) to be held in various locations around the world in the 2020 season.
