The 2025 Mazda CX-50 is a compact SUV.
It is assembled at the Huntsville plant in Alabama, USA.
The 2025 CX-50 starts at $39,950.
Mazda has announced that production of CX-50 units bound for Canada will be suspended starting May 12. This decision comes amidst the current trade tariff crisis.

Rania Guirguis, Regional Operations Director for Quebec, stated, “Mazda Canada currently has a limited inventory of CX-50s, along with some units in transit, which our dealer network will continue to sell.” The automaker did not specify whether this production halt is temporary, and no restart date was mentioned. As a result, consumers looking to purchase a new Mazda CX-50 may want to act sooner rather than later.
It’s worth noting that the CX-50 is currently the only Mazda model built in the United States—specifically at the Huntsville, Alabama facility. Toyota assembles the subcompact Corolla Cross SUV at this plant. According to Romaric Lartilleux, Public Relations Manager at Toyota Canada, “there are no announcements regarding Corolla Cross production at this time.”
For the 2025 model year, Mazda expanded the CX-50 lineup by introducing a new hybrid variant. The powertrain options now include a 2.5L four-cylinder engine that is naturally aspirated, a turbocharged 2.5L four-cylinder, and the new hybrid powertrain. Pricing for the 2025 Mazda CX-50 starts at $39,950 for the GS-L trim.
The CX-50 is an important product for Mazda Canada. In 2024, 10,759 CX-50 units were sold nationwide, making it Mazda’s third-best-selling SUV in Canada, behind the CX-5 and CX-30.
